Geeta Nazareth was born in Leipzig/ Germany into a musical family. She picked up the violin when she was 8 years old and shortly thereafter was admitted as one of the youngest students at the Music University in Graz/ Austria. After her family moved to Amsterdam, Holland she studied with Tchaikovsky Competition Winner Ilya Grubert at the Amsterdam Conservatory. She subsequently studied at the Music Universities in Freiburg/ Germany with Prof. Rainer Kussmaul and at the Hamburg Music University with Prof. Petru Munteanu.
She received a scholarship to study violin and viola at the Manhattan School of Music, New York, with Grigory Kalinovsky. Geeta won the Vienna Music Olympics 2004 (Austria) as well as several 1st prizes at the national Austrian music competition “Prima La Musica”. She received full scholarships to participate in many summer festivals, amongst them the prestigious Young Artists Program in Ottawa/ Canada under the tutelage of Pinchas Zukerman. Geeta attended several international and national schools including her most recent studies at the Vienna Conservatory of Music.
