Pierre Coker began his Viola studies at the age of fifteen, after his initial training as a classical pianist from the age of four. He was an active member of the New York Youth Symphony, performing classical and new contemporary works. He is a graduate of Harvard University, where he studied Neuro- and Behavioral Economics and was involved in multiple chamber and orchestral ensembles. He was one of the youngest members to assume the role of Principal Violist of the student-run Bach Society Orchestra, was an active member of the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra, and guest Violist of the Brattle Street Chamber Players. He has studied chamber performance with Robert Levin, Daniel Barenboim, Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble. He is currently a Strategy Management Consultant at the Monitor Group in New York. He lives in Chelsea, where he continues his musical journey with his childhood Piano, and viola “Katarina”.
